Sligo's Noble Six





On 20th. September 1922 during the tragic Irish Civil War, six Irish Republican Army soldiers were killed by
Free State troops on Benbulben Mountain in suspicious circumstances. They became known as 'Sligo's Noble Six'

Sligo's Noble Six were: Div. Adjutant Brian McNeill, Dublin. Brigadier Seamus Devins, Grange.
Captain Harry Benson, Ballisodare. Lieutenant Paddy Carroll, Sligo.
Volunteer Tommy Langan, Sligo. Volunteer Joe Banks, Sligo.

Five of the six are buried in the Republican Plot in Sligo Cemetery.
