Lough Easkey is located in the Ox mountain range and is situated between Lough Talt and Dromore West village.
The name Easkey comes from the Irish: Iascaigh, meaning fish. The Lake can be accessed by road from Dromore West or Tubbercurry.
The area around Lough Easkey is barren and windswept and is one of the most remote uninhabited regions of County Sligo.
At the lakeside there is evidence of earlier, long deserted dwellings though how anyone could eke out a living at this desolate place is beyond me!
